Doula Support

Doula Support: Services

What is a Doula?
A Doula understands the physiology of birth and the emotional and physical needs of a birthing person in labor.  The presence of a Doula at birth has been proven to decrease the need for interventions during labor, decrease the occurrences of cesarean delivery, improve the parents’ overall feelings about their birth experience, and so much more.  The support each birthing person receives will be different therefore the support provided will be unique to you.  While every family's care is customized some things will not change.  My goal is to access evidence based information for you and your partner to assist in the decision making process, emotional and beneficial techniques that include physical comfort measures before, during and after your birth.  Whether you choose a natural or medicated path, my belief is this is YOUR birth and it is my goal to help you achieve the birth you want. By listening to your concerns, I will support you in the course of your entire birth process to achieve your desired birth and to make your birth experience wonderful. I support births in all Hospitals, Birth Centers and Homes in Beaufort, SC; Bluffton, SC; Hilton Head Island, SC; Savannah, GA and surrounding areas. I will work in cooperation with physicians, midwives, nurses, and families to facilitate communication between the laboring person, partner, and clinical care providers.  I recognize childbirth is a key life experience that the birthing person will remember forever and as a Doula, I want to help nurture and protect the wonderful memory of your birth experience.
